Jainism's basic teachings

Jainism is unique because it's teaching and principles are given by the Tirthankaras, who have all the worldly knowledge. Therefore their teachings are applicable in any era, at any point of time. These teachings are eternal truth as told by Lord Mahavira some 2600 years ago (599 BC)

1. The Power of Soul (आत्मवाद) - Every soul has tremendous power but their evolution is not the same. So one should focus on realising their inner power of soul and evolve, as every soul has the capacity to become a super soul.

2. Self Accountability (आत्म कर्तृत्व) - One's soul is only responsible for all the joyful and sorrowful moments in its life and all these moments depend on the soul's Karmic attachments. No external force can change these moments.

3. Karma (कर्मवाद) -  All the souls (except the ones who have achieved salvation) are attached to Karmas. Karmic attachments is the sole reason for the soul's suffering in the universe.

4. Difference of opinion (अनेकांतवाद) - One single thing of the universe can have innumerable different opinions by innumerable different people, but that does not means one is correct and the other is wrong. All are correct in their own opinions (this principle will be explained in detail in the upcoming articles).

5. Equal feeling (समतावाद) - Irrespective of size, colour, features, etc one should have equal and same feelings for all the living beings of the universe.

6. Casteism (जातिवाद) - The only cast is Human Being, all other classifications of castes will only give rise to problems.

All these teaching were given by Lord Mahavira some 2600 years ago and they are still valid keeping in mind the world's current situation.

Application of these teachings in our lives will definitely take all of us a step closer to attaining World Peace.

The picture given in the article is when Lord Mahavira attained all the worldly knowledge (केवल ज्ञान, omniscience) at the banks of Barakar river (Rhijubaluka river).

Let's not just keep these wonderful teachings limited to ourselves and share this article to all your loved ones and spread peace in the society. Subscribe this blog and get notified for further such articles.
